Llao Llao Hotel & Resort Golf-Spa

I stopped in for lunch but didn’t stay at the hotel. The food tasted exquisite, but the buffet was poor value for 88,000 Argentinian pesos ($62-£46). The main course had only one meat choice, one potato and a pasta, and the salad bar was good quality but had very little to choose from. Staff were working on doors in the dining room while I was there, and clearing the buffet and setting up for the next shift as I finished. It wasn’t a relaxing meal. Then they charged 14000 ($10-£7.30) for parking. For a high end hotel, the whole experience was incredibly poor and left a bitter taste. If you do go, bear left at the parking gate for free parking 40 feet from their lot.

The breakfasts were incredible, fresh and high quality, with really attentive service. We also had one of the best SPA treatments we’ve ever experienced. Staff were welcoming and always smiling, and dinner at the Argentinian restaurant was very good, though a bit pricey. The hotel is about 45 minutes from the city center, but the silence is unparalleled. We stayed in the old part, where the rooms felt a bit outdated and the shower could use renovation. Still, the place has a unique old school luxury vibe, and we loved the heated indoor and outdoor pools overlooking the lake and mountains. One of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed in, period. We’d recommend it 100% and hope to return someday.

We stopped at the hotel during a circuito chico tour. The lobby has nice rustic decor, and the food was pretty good. We liked the onion soup, which was a clearer version than the richer kind served at most restaurants. The trout empanada had a generous amount of fish and is worth recommending. Service was good, though it lacked the subtle attentiveness you’d expect at a five star level. Parking was confusing for English-speaking visitors: the attendant spoke little English, and the help button was also in Spanish. If you don’t speak Spanish, you can find parking by driving another minute past the hotel parking.

My husband and I stayed in July 2024 for his birthday. The newly renovated room was amazing, and the room and pool were the highlights. The pool could use renovation, though the view made up for it. Food was the big letdown: we ate at all the restaurants and had tea, and it was a 2-3 at best, nowhere near what you’d expect from a hotel like this. We were also really annoyed that kids were allowed to run around, yell and jump through the hotel and even the restaurant. Staff should say something if parents can’t control them, because it really ruins the experience.
