After a long drive, this was such a lovely place to land. Mario, the manager, is a delight. There are birds and llamas around, and the river is nearby, with a pleasant walk past an apple orchard. Make sure to try their own Malbec. Honestly, it's the best I've had on this trip.

At check-in, the hotel charged us a higher nightly price than the one we’d reserved and confirmed on Booking.com, then added another 21% in fees or tax. That literally doubled what we were paying. I’m a tourist on vacation and showed my U.S. ID, but the owner said the reservation had been made with an Argentinian address, so the extra charges applied. They tried the same thing with another couple checking in just after us. When we asked why the price had changed, the response was hostile and unprofessional. We were told to leave if we didn’t like it, but that cancelling would cost us 50%. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone looking for an honest stay.

The Andes are right there, bringing a real feeling of peace, quiet, and vastness. The gardens are full of roses, vines, and apple trees, and there's a little barn with llamas, deer, and other animals. Emiliano and the whole staff were so friendly, and hospitality really shines here. We had a delicious homemade breakfast delivered right to our bungalow door. What more could a traveler ask for?

We totally loved this place. Breakfast was delicious, and we got to enjoy the sunshine, the views, and the lovely pools. It was clean, fairly priced, and the customer service was excellent. Highly recommend this gem!

There’s plenty for kids to enjoy, including a small petting zoo with llamas and other game animals they can feed, plus access to the Los Patos river. The resort has a pool and hot tub for summer, and a playroom with ping pong and foosball. Our cabin was very well equipped, with a huge window in both the living room and bedroom, a fireplace that heats the whole place in winter, summer air conditioning, and lots of hot water in the shower. It even has DirecTV. There are six cabins in Barreal, all with astonishing views of Mercedario and the Andes. The homemade bread breakfast was more than enough, though I imagine it could get repetitive after a few days. Still, for under $100 for a cabin for five in a place like this, you can’t ask for more.
