Believe Madero Hotel

I wouldn't spend this much here. The bathrooms leaked through the ceilings and walls, and the towels had holes. The rooms smelled, the elevators didn't seem to be serviced, and only one person was working reception, so checking out took ages. This hotel doesn't live up to the star rating it claims. I'm not angry about it, but there are much better places for less money.

I left within the first hour and paid for a room I never used. The room was already in rough condition, and then we found signs that could point to bed bugs. First there was a flying bug in the bathroom sink, which didn't worry me much. Later, there was another bug on the bed that looked like a bed bug. Under the sheets we also saw brown marks consistent with bed bug residue. I really did try to give the place the benefit of the doubt, but that was the last straw.

The location is good, but the place felt pretty neglected. It seems the lobby got the investment while the rest didn't. The sheets, floor, and windows were all in bad shape, and the sound insulation was very poor. I wouldn't recommend it if you can afford to pay a little more.

Breakfast was one of the best spreads I've seen on trips around Argentina and other countries. There was a big selection of food, baked goods, fruit, juice, eggs, yogurt, and even the coffee was decent, with everything available throughout. We were on the fifth floor, with a lovely city view from the window: old port brick buildings and a huge tree among others lining the blocks. The room was a little small, with a side table on one side of the big, comfortable bed and a chair on the other. The temperature control worked well and kept things pleasant. I noticed spider webs in the corners and where the walls met the ceiling, but they weren't a real problem. We didn't take room service, but the woman who handles it was helpful and brought us clean towels and supplies.
