Sudamerika Hostel & Suites Recoleta

We used Poetry Building as our base for day trips to Iguazú, Colonia del Sacramento and Tigre. It's a little outside the main tourist areas, but easy enough to get around on foot. We walked 35,000 to 40,000 steps a day, which helped balance out the Aperol Spritz and Argentine food. We stayed in the huge first-floor Apartment 1B, with a loft and plenty of room to feel at home. The renovation work didn't bother us; it gives us a reason to return and see it finished. Recoleta Cemetery is about a 10-minute walk away, and there are corner stores, restaurants and Avenida Santa Fe nearby. Carlos and Sol were friendly, attentive and quick to respond. They arranged our airport and port transfers, and everything went smoothly. A wonderful start to our 24-day vacation. We'd happily come back and recommend Poetry Building.

The apartment-style room had a lovely little terrace where I could work remotely, and the place felt nothing like a sterile chain hotel. The staff really cared and went out of their way to make our time in BA good, especially Sol. They were accommodating with our hotel requests and even helped us make appointments and reservations in Spanish. Their English is perfect, too. The location was incredible, but the people were what stood out most. I've rarely written a review, but I was so impressed that I asked how to share our experience. I'll definitely be back.

The staff made things easy, helping with transport and dinner reservations, and communication on WhatsApp was very good. We had a comfortable room and found this much better than the AirBNB stays we're used to. Great value and location, just what we wanted for our first time in Argentina and BA. Coming back to Poetry Building after our trip to Patagonia felt like coming home. We loved Recoleta, with its good restaurants within walking distance, and felt welcomed among locals instead of like tourists. Our apartment suited the three of us so well, especially with my very tall husband and teenage daughter. It was spacious and thoughtfully laid out, and the king-size bed gave me the best sleep I've had while traveling. Our daughter loved the loft and its cozy queen bed; after a demanding semester abroad, she finally got deep, restorative sleep and felt like a new person within days. The kitchen made healthy breakfasts easy, with a fruit stand and grocery store just around the corner, and the air conditioning worked very well. The staff were warm and capable from our first call and email. Communication by email and WhatsApp was seamless, with quick replies, restaurant reservations and thoughtful tips for Buenos Aires. Sol, Noelí and Carlos were especially helpful and personable. The apartment was meticulously cleaned, and our laundry came back washed and folded the same day. We felt at home throughout our 10-day stay. We can't recommend Poetry Building highly enough.
