We booked two nights, but on arrival they said they only had beds for one night. We'd agreed on 18,000 per bed per night, then they asked for 20,000. In the end we paid 18,000. It was the cheapest place I found in el calafate, but with those issues and the greedy treatment we got, it might not be worth it.

We canceled the stay straight away. The owner had been missing for nearly an hour when we arrived to check in early in the afternoon. When he finally showed up, he yelled at us for coming into reception, even though the front door was open, and accused us of having kicked it in. He was extremely unfriendly. Ugly place, don't go there.

We got a great welcome and had a great stay. I'd recommend this hotel!

My biggest frustration was being ignored when I asked by message and phone if I could leave my things until my airport transfer arrived. I had to take everything with me and change my transfer plans. The staff were barely around, and the neglected facilities made the place feel like the bare minimum, really just somewhere to sleep. My private room had no bedside table or ventilation, and the heater barely warmed it during the cold, rainy days. I didn't enjoy staying here and wouldn't come back.

The hostel seemed okay, but it had a strange smell and was in the middle of nowhere, out in the desert. The way the manager treated us was deplorable. Argentina has a clear rule exempting tourists from VAT when they pay by international card, but he acted as if he hadn't heard of it. After we argued, he admitted this kept happening, yet seemed to have done nothing to sort it out. When we showed our Booking.com confirmation and a government notice saying the tax didn't apply to us, he brushed us off and insulted us. He even said scornfully that he wouldn't go to our country and refuse to pay taxes, which had nothing to do with the issue. Bad attitude.
