Hotel Ariel

Breakfast was nearly gone, the cleaning was poor, and the hotel felt very old. The worst part was what happened after the toilet broke: with our seven-month-old baby, we spent the morning getting out of a room full of sewage. Management then said they had proof we'd put food in the toilet the night before and demanded either a fine or that we leave. We left rather than deal with them further. Booking.com support later refunded that night's stay, which made it seem the hotel was blaming us for a long-standing lack of sewer maintenance. The low price makes sense given the experience. It was an unpleasant stay, and I'd choose somewhere else.

A quiet, pleasant place, simple but comfortable, with a supermarket right across the street. The staff spoke English and helped with all sorts of things: arranging our airport taxi, exchanging money, and ordering a lunch box for our El Calafate glacier tour. Pretty good all around. Thanks!

The location is decent, but the rest was a mess. I waited over ten minutes while staff sat having tea in front of me, then had to dry off with a blanket after my shower because there were no towels. Since they said they no longer used Airbnb, they tried to make me pay again even though that was where I'd booked. After I spent one night there, they said a booking conflict meant they had no room for me and I had to leave. Be cautious.

We loved our stay here in late 2019 and would recommend Hotel Ariel. The staff were kind and accommodating, even putting up with our poor Spanish. They held our luggage while we went on the W-Trek, served breakfast early to fit our departure times, and arranged a taxi to the airport. The location was convenient too.
