We never reached El Calafate or stayed in the apartment because a nationwide strike cancelled all flights. We were stranded elsewhere in Argentina for more than two days with no way to travel. After the cancellation, we promptly informed Santa Monica Aparts and sent official proof of what had happened. Even so, the property charged us the full reservation amount and offered no flexibility. In my view, a nationwide strike grounding flights is an exceptional circumstance outside a guest's control, not a personal cancellation or negligence. The property had no cleaning, service, or utility costs for us, and had advance notice that could have let them rent the apartment to someone else, yet kept the entire payment. I found this approach to customer service extremely rigid and unfair. It's a very disappointing experience, and based on how they treat guests in exceptional circumstances, I can't recommend the property.

The cottage and grounds are cute, but the lighting made the space hard to enjoy at night. There are six 75-watt bulbs in the living room and kitchen, bright enough to feel like a motion-sensor floodlight shining in your face. The same kind of bulb is in the bedroom. They're about three times larger than the fixtures are designed for, so they look tacky too. Lighting matters a lot for ambience, and something needs to be done about it.

A small, cozy suite right downtown, very clean and comfortable. The little kitchen has enough equipment to cook or warm up leftovers. It's close to restaurants and bars, so it's a great base for enjoying Argentinian nightlife after a long hike. Highly recommended.

The cabins are excellent, with mini kitchens, adorable interiors, and peaceful shared spaces. The staff are incredibly kind and resourceful. They bring breakfast right to your door at whatever time you choose, even very early, and the town of el Calafate is super convenient to get to.

We spent five nights here. The cabin was clean, with a useful kitchen, warm heater, and a shower with strong pressure. I loved the garden and yard, with birds flying around and walking on the ground. The location is close to the city's restaurants and bars, and the people working here are kind. Perfect, 10 stars!
