The staff were great, and a kind receptionist even got us a dinner reservation at Mako. That’s why I gave the service some stars. Otherwise, the absurd policy would make this a 1-star review. The owners’ rule today was that staff couldn’t give guests any extra cup, glass or plastic, beyond the two in the bathrooms, unless we bought a drink. There are cameras at reception to monitor whether anyone gives out a free cup, like other hotels normally do. It’s bizarre, and it makes me think the owners are so money-hungry they want to charge for cups 😒. Maybe they thought guests would just buy a drink, or wanted to avoid washing one more cup in the dishwasher. Either way, I’m not sure they thought through how guests would feel about it. The location is so-so, with quite a walk to both the lake and the town center shops. Our room was down three short flights of stairs, and some rooms on the ground floor require several stairs to reach. There was no air conditioning. A decorative blanket with an inner stain was covering our pillow, and untrimmed bushes blocked the view. We paid over $130 USD per room per night.

It was shoulder season and quiet, which made the hotel feel warm and relaxing. I liked sitting on the soft sofas with the jazz music and garden view, and the restaurant meals were good value. The staff were friendly and professional. The only downside was a damp smell from the bathroom coming into the room. I’d suggest keeping the bathroom doors shut after cleaning.

A good place to stay in El Calafate. Comfortable rooms, a nice breakfast, helpful service, and a convenient location.

Everything is close by since the hotel is right downtown, with coffee shops, restaurants, and the other things you need nearby. The location couldn’t be better. Our room was cozy and warm, with a lovely landscape view, and all the windows looked onto a beautiful garden. The staff were really friendly and always ready to help. I highly recommend this lovely hotel.

The place is run down, and the walls are so thin you can hear other guests brushing their teeth. Our windows faced a busy street, with trucks and scooters supplying the Patagonian ambience. There’s no ventilation, so the windows are steamy all the time. The food was mediocre, and they even put out a basket of fake fruit to give poor guests the illusion of abundance. This was one of those bad choices made from hotel photos and a few positive reviews. It was the worst place we stayed in during our three-week trip in Argentina, and among the worst hotels I’ve ever come across. Go ahead and book it for your next adventure, then you can appreciate home more when you get back.
