The views of Fitzroy were stunning, and the lodge sits in a quiet, secluded spot by a small river, well outside the nearest town. We had all ten rooms as part of an American hiking group, and spent four nights there in January 2026. Hosts and staff were warm and attentive throughout. We ate breakfast and dinner there every day, and they also made sack lunches for us. The food was excellent. I may write to the manager to ask for the coconut bites recipe and the multi-grain bread they served at breakfast. Yum!

We drove from El Calafate to El Pilar and stayed two nights. The warm, welcoming feel started as soon as we walked in. Guillermo and Kari were lovely to talk with, and the service was excellent. The food was the best we had in all of El Chalten.

We weren't guests at the hosteria, but one of us got injured on the way back from Laguna de los Tres. When we arrived limping and looking for help, the owners immediately offered to drive us to our car and gave us good advice on where to get medical help. Thank you for being so compassionate! ❤️

The hosts and staff were incredibly welcoming and kind, and the food was delicious. Get their packed lunch if you're heading out hiking or climbing. The hotel itself is so cozy, with antique touches and modern luxury details. The rooms, bathrooms, and views were all amazing, and I can't get over the fireplace. Sitting right below Fitz Roy, the sunrise views are especially incredible. If I could give it 10 stars, I would. One of the most amazing hotels in the world.

The views and location are hard to beat, and breakfast each morning was delicious. Christina and Guillermo were wonderful hosts, so kind, knowledgeable, and attentive. We loved our stay: great food, hosts, location, and ambience. Highly recommend!
