Nunataks

The trails start less than a five-minute walk away, which was perfect for our hikes near El Chalten. We wanted a more local place to stay, and this family-run B&B felt just right, with the money going directly to the community. The rooms are cute and clean, and housekeeping came every day. They were there to let us in even though we arrived late, so that was no issue. Breakfast is quick and simple: ham, cheese, bread, cereal, fruit, coffee and tea. There are no eggs, but restaurants nearby serve hot breakfasts. You can pay on arrival in cash (Argentinian only), by card or with PayPal. As of December 1, 2025, card payments came with an extra 15% charge, and PayPal also costs the hosts a percentage, so cash may make more sense. Thanks for a great stay!

Book early if you’re coming in peak season, since it can be hard to get a room. It’s reasonably priced for the location, though everything up here is expensive. You’re right at the top of El Chalten, close to the start of most walks, with good restaurants, bakeries and beer nearby. The staff were really friendly and breakfast was great.

The Wi-Fi was a little slow, but the shower was hot with great pressure, and breakfast each morning was fantastic. Staff were friendly and helpful. The location is handy too, near the Fitz Roy trailhead and restaurants.

The Wi-Fi was really slow, though I’m not sure if that’s the case all over town since it’s so remote. One night they had the heat cranked up the whole time, which made it hard to sleep. Still, it was a good stay overall.
