Las Golondrinas Hotel in mar del plata is easily the best hostel I’ve stayed in, after trips all over the world and plenty of hostels in South America, Europe and Central America. Lele and Gmo, the owners, along with the staff, make everyone feel like family. They also put on great events where you can meet people. The place was cleaned thoroughly, the WiFi worked well throughout, and there’s a nice pool. The cafe next door is run by the owners. If you’re into surfing, this is the spot.

The staff are really friendly and happy to help with anything. It’s in a laid-back area outside the center, just a couple of blocks from the beach, with shops and coffee places nearby. There’s a full kitchen, pool and lounge area, TV room, free breakfast and WiFi, plus comfortable rooms. Pretty much everything you could want, and then some.

The garden and pool are lovely, and there’s a well-placed coworking space where I could work without interruptions. My room was comfortable and the bathroom spotless, though there’s no air conditioning, only a fan. It was my first hostel stay and a great experience, with amazing people and the best waves close by. Everything has that Usuna style. Lele and Gimo bring a lot to the service and coach riders of all ages. The staff were attentive and friendly, and the social events and live music made it more fun to meet other guests. Thanks for having me, hope to see you all again soon.

I booked for one night and no one mentioned there’d be an electronic music event. The whole place was shaking, and there was annoying noise at night. It seems geared toward teenagers, and the doors and windows don’t block the sound. There’s no air conditioning or TV either. The bathroom was fine and the bed comfortable, but there weren’t enough outlets near the bed. Wi-Fi didn’t work well. I picked the wrong place, and wouldn’t recommend it if you want to rest and relax.

The staff were incredibly attentive, and otherwise everything was excellent. The common areas were lovely, clean and tidy, and the room was very comfortable. My one gripe is that you can only use the common areas until midnight. It feels like being told to go to bed as a kid, haha. I’ve stayed at lots of hostels where people could use them later, provided they were considerate and kept the noise down. That’s the only downside, so I took off a star.
