Hotel El Cortijo

This was the worst hotel experience I’ve had. Hotel El Cortijo is the same hotel as Hotel El Prado. The Wi-Fi barely worked and the air conditioning was horrible, but what really ruined my vacation was being robbed in the hotel’s enclosed parking lot, which costs 250 pesos a day. Since the lot is completely closed, I’m sure it was an employee who stole from me. The hotel and manager have been completely unwilling to pay. We tried to talk it through, but they wouldn’t help. They say they accept responsibility, yet still refuse to pay. They claim they sent a letter and are waiting for insurance, but I don’t believe them. Whenever we ask to see the letter, they dodge the question and show us nothing. It feels like they’re just stalling until we leave. Now I’ll have to get a lawyer to recover my things, on top of all the stress and work this has caused. I don’t feel safe leaving the room when someone could come in and take my belongings. Any serious hotel would have paid already, apologized, and at least offered free accommodation for the stress. This is the worst way I’ve ever seen a hotel handle something. Don’t spend your vacation or money here. I don’t recommend staying at Hotel El Cortijo or Hotel El Prado.

The hotel room price included a nice breakfast. Service, amenities, price, and location were all excellent.

It’s an OK place at a reasonable price, in a good location, and the Wi-Fi is decent, meaning it works. The rooms need maintenance, though. The A.C. is sort of central and wasn’t working.

We were robbed inside the hotel, and the staff didn’t help or pay us back. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
