Hostel Farfalla

The mattresses were in good condition, and the shared kitchen had plenty of utensils, though they were quite dirty. We stayed in an apartment meant for six, but there was only a bar with four stools. There was no private entrance either, just a shared hallway reached by a fairly steep staircase. The doors and windows all needed maintenance and wouldn’t close properly. We had to clean the air conditioner filters ourselves before using it. The shower only got hot if every other electrical appliance was switched off.

It was a completely unpleasant stay. The water was lukewarm at best, almost cold, and we had to turn off all the air conditioning to get a decent shower or we’d freeze. The connections, structures, and openings were all in very poor condition. The bathroom window wouldn’t lock, so we had to use a latch. One of the studio apartment doors broke and trapped us inside. We called the owner, but she never answered, and we had to force our way out from the outside. This hostel doesn’t meet the basic requirements for a comfortable stay.

We were woken by work happening in the next room from 7 in the morning. The walls seemed paper-thin, and we could hear everything on the street. It’s far from the center, so the low price didn’t make up for the conditions. We told the owner she shouldn’t host people like this, especially without warning them, but she completely ignored us. The hostel doesn’t meet basic standards for guests. I gave it one star because zero wasn’t an option.

The room was simple and clean, the breakfast was good, and the air conditioning worked fine. The hot water temperature couldn’t be adjusted and kept fluctuating. Wi-Fi wasn’t great, and dogs barked all night. They only accepted cash, and charged an extra 20% tax compared with the price Booking.com had quoted. If you’re not fussy, it’s perfectly fine.
