The river setting near the Paraguay border was beautiful, and taking a Zodiac out to a small waterfall for a swim was a highlight. Our room felt homely and rustic, with plenty of space and a view. The first evening's meal and service were fantastic, though the next night's team made for a terrible experience. The reception girls were very nice and helpful. There were a few rough spots, but we still had a wonderful stay and feel the five stars are deserved. The staff seemed rather inexperienced.

We had planned our first two-week holiday in 12 years, with 4-5-star hotels and attentive service throughout. We’re flexible, experienced travelers, so this isn’t an overreaction. Our stay at Posada (Casa) Bemberg was the awful exception. The next morning, we left. The property and the way guests were treated gave us the impression that nobody cared or would take responsibility. The room was so bad we “slept” fully clothed. The bed was full size, despite our having booked king rooms and suites for the whole trip. We weren’t given a room key until I asked at dinner. I was taken to get one, and the room where the keys were kept was unlocked even after staff had left. The lobby was old, musty, faded, and open to the humid jungle air. There was a small dusty, moldy couch and chair with falling-apart covers, plus three lamps that gave harsh light. Two panes in the main window were broken, and its frame was moldy. Both bathroom windows had mold around them, and one was so old and swollen it wouldn’t close. Mold was all over the bathroom, including the shower, sink, toilet, door frame, and walls. The cups hadn’t been washed and had toothpaste left by a previous guest, and there were hairs in the shower that weren’t ours. The bathroom door was clear glass, so there was no privacy. A curtain was there, but because of its setup someone outside had to close it for you. The blind over the doors to the crumbling patio was already down when we arrived, moldy, and had a dead fly stuck to it. The bathroom light was full of dead bugs. In daylight we also spotted a boot print on the bedroom wall, as if someone had tried to kill a bug with a hiking boot and left the mark there. The place was disgusting even in the dark. Avoid staying here if you can, and change your reservation if you’ve already booked. At the very least, call to make sure a reservation at Posada Bemberg won’t send you to Casa Bemberg. Casa Bemberg is a dump.

Power cuts happened regularly, and the hospitality was awful. The pool was covered in algae, the sunbeds were broken, and there were bugs everywhere, including in the bedroom. This is a remote, creepy old hotel with poor quality throughout. We stayed and regretted it. Don’t book here.

The people looking after us were kind and attentive. They guided us throughout the boat trip to Salto Yasy, sharing the place’s history and interesting details about the nature around us. We got to go into the water and enjoy its magic. It was so peaceful, a beautiful way to connect with nature, and the area has a rich, fascinating history. I’d happily repeat this experience a thousand times. Thank you!

We went for the day with my mom and her cousin, and the team took such good care of us and helped everyone enjoy the activities. They picked us up at our hotel, took us on the waterfall excursion, served lunch, and we got to spend time at the pool before heading back. It made our last day there lovely. The place and nature are beautiful, and a special mention to the chef. I highly recommend it. ♡
