Hotel Tolosa

The breakfast was varied and good, and the rooms were warm and comfortable, with large smart TVs. There’s also indoor parking at the hotel, and the staff were friendly. A few things could be better: the shower pressure was low, and there were some hot water issues, though those were fixed quickly. I thought it was a shame that tea bags cost extra at a hotel of this level. Music from outside played until 5 am and kept us awake. It may not be the hotel’s fault, but perhaps they can do something about it. Renovation noise from drilling during the day also interrupted our rest. Maybe that work could be scheduled out of season.

The staff were friendly and patient with my not-so-great Spanish, and the service was great throughout. One morning, with too few guests to run the full breakfast bar, they brought breakfast right to our room. The breakfast itself was excellent every morning. Our room was plain but comfortable, and the hotel is near plenty of shops and just a short walk from the beach. We had a wonderful stay and no complaints. I’d definitely recommend it.

Dinner at the hotel restaurant was the weak point for me. The food was mediocre, with overcooked, underseasoned meat, though the service was excellent. Our waiter Cristina was friendly, accommodating, and efficient. They might want to change the chef to improve the food. The rest of my stay was very enjoyable: for a three-star hotel, it felt more like a three-plus. My room was quite large and had a flat-screen TV, fridge, and kettle. Wi-Fi was free with a strong signal, breakfast had plenty of options, and I could park my car in the garage.

We went to bed without showering because we had to be up at 5 am and the water was still cold after an hour and a half. It was the second night of our two-night stay. Reception first said someone would come in 10 minutes, but after more than 20 minutes no one had arrived. I called again and was told someone would come, then tried once more and got no answer for another 10 minutes. Eventually they said the heater needed to be switched on and would take about 20 minutes to warm up. The receptionist then blamed the full hotel and said the heater takes time. This shouldn't happen in a four-star hotel. Auper disappointing.
