The only bright spot was the upstairs associate doctor, who practices holistic health, and her lovely team, who cook healthy, delicious food. The hotel itself was awful. It sits just meters from the highway, so the noise never lets up, and the power went out every day with no generator. The pool is tiny, the gardens are neglected, and there’s nowhere to walk. Nothing in my room worked properly: the refrigerator was loud, the fan wouldn’t respond, and the toilet tank was extremely poor quality. The curtains let the sun in, and lights were switched on every night, so sleeping in darkness was impossible. The owner, a certain Adriana Musa Moreno, never appeared and left no staff in charge. She refused to refund me or give me a receipt. It felt like a rip-off, with terrible treatment from a phantom, despotic owner. I absolutely do not recommend it.

The grounds and pool were our favorite parts of La Casona. It’s a beautiful, peaceful place, and Adriana, the owner, was really friendly. We spent the weekend there while traveling to the falls and Brazil. The service was excellent, and I’d definitely recommend it.

A handy spot just off Route 12 if you want to explore the little towns around Capiovi, and a nice place to take a break. The room was fine. The only thing I’d mention is that the bathroom could’ve been cleaner.

Adriana is so warm and affectionate, and the price is really reasonable for what you get. Casona café even provides water for guests, something you don’t get at even the best hotels these days. A perfect place if you’re looking to rest.
