It's about a ten-minute walk from the main square. The rooms are basic for a three-star hotel, with no fridge and too little storage, though the bathroom was clean. Breakfast was good and included fruit. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and cheerful.

The room is small, though the amenities are good, and the front desk staff are friendly. There's a supermarket and McDonald's about six blocks straight ahead. A taxi back costs around 100 pesos.

It has the feel of a hotel from a few decades back, which some people might find dated. I found that old-fashioned character charming, with a vintage atmosphere and service to match. I really enjoyed my stay, especially the pool and patio.

At Altos de Balcarce, we found what you'd hope for: a clean, pleasant room and bathroom, friendly staff, good food, a welcoming atmosphere, and a reasonable price. It's downtown, too.
