We left feeling no warmth or hospitality. It seemed as though the owners or staff didn’t really want us there and were only hosting us because of the room payment. They don’t offer paid lunches, drinks, or dinners, and even if you’re willing to pay, they send you to another hotel or restaurant. So I mean the room charge only when I say they seemed interested in taking our money. We never felt they cared about making more money through other services. The heating was the biggest shock. Shortly after midnight on our first night, it all went off. By 3:30am the room was cold enough to wake me, and there was no night receptionist. I messaged and got no reply. After an hour, still freezing and unable to sleep, I called reception. The receptionist answered sounding very sleepy. I apologized for calling and explained that the heating was off and we were cold. She said, “well there is nothing I can do, this is an automatic system”. I thanked her and hung up. The next night I heated the room beforehand, expecting the heating to be shut off again. It seemed to come back on just before breakfast, so most guests probably wouldn’t notice. I thought it was cheap of the owners to cut electricity costs this way. We were also told the sauna was open from 4-8pm. That seemed like a very short window, especially since guests might still be out doing winter activities or having dinner. I also found it strange that the room had no kettle, teabags, or coffee sachets. We saw other guests getting tea and coffee from the machine downstairs in the breakfast room, so we did the same. The following day a sign appeared saying drinks had to be paid for, but no price was given and there was no staff around. It felt ridiculous and unfriendly to prevent guests from having a hot drink in a winter hotel, especially when there wasn’t even a way to make one in the room. The room itself was cozy and the bed was very comfortable. It had two floors and was big, but the upstairs area had only another sofa, even though there was already a living room downstairs. I couldn’t see the point of using the space that way. Check-in was smooth, with no issues, and the receptionist was helpful and offered to help with my jacket.
