Hotel Lagant

The only real plus for us was the location, since you can sled straight back to the hotel. It sits on a steep slope that gets slippery in the snow, so mind your step. Parking is all outdoors, which is a hassle when it snows, and there’s only one slow EV charger per building. With limited space, non-electric cars often block it. Getting around inside the hotel was frustrating. It’s laid out like a maze, with no elevator between important areas. The walk from the lobby to the restaurant takes about five minutes on stairs, and even going to the bar after dinner felt like a workout. That’s not what I expect from a 4-star hotel, especially for anyone with mobility issues or difficulty with stairs. The rooms were basic and felt more like a hostel than a resort, without the warmth or decor I expected. There were no slippers, supposedly in the name of sustainability, so bring your own. The pillows were either flat and collapsed or hard and lumpy like little stones, and I couldn’t sleep on them. Housekeeping worked hard, but I didn’t like finding my pajamas arranged into decorative shapes on the bed. Please don’t touch my personal things. The buffet layout at breakfast and dinner was poorly organized, which made serving food frustrating. Breakfast coffee was very weak, and the selection was exactly the same every day. After a week, it was hard to find anything appetizing. The themed dinners didn’t come together either. On Italian night the pasta was overcooked and tasteless, though the fresh pizza was a small bright spot. Asian night was just as disappointing. Desserts were always too sweet, and I wondered whether the chef noticed how much food was being wasted. The food was underwhelming enough that we considered eating out, which is disappointing on a half-board stay. And for a family hotel, it was surprising there was no ice cream for the children. The wellness label feels misleading. The pool is small and freezing, and my child, who usually loves swimming, refused to go back after trying it once. Massage is outsourced, and you have to pay the therapist directly in cash, which made it feel like the hotel was only renting out a room. The indoor playground also wasn’t very clean, so I’d bring extra socks or indoor shoes for the kids. This fell well short of 4-star standards for us. Between the access problems, mediocre meals, and disappointing facilities, I wouldn’t recommend it for a relaxing family holiday.

The staff were amazing, and the facilities were great for the kids. It’s an ideal stay for young families, with a great location for a relaxing ski, snowboard, or sledging getaway. Don’t expect challenging pistes, though. The stay exceeded our expectations. Thanks, Sonja and the team.

We had a wonderful week away with the kids. The food was delicious, the chef was great, and the friendly team provided a high level of service. The hotel director, Mrs. Feurstein, added a personal touch by being around different areas all day, staying in contact with guests and leading activities such as family hikes. There are plenty of ways to spend time in the region during summer, more than enough for a week-long stay.

We loved this place for our first family hotel stay. There’s so much to do and see, and the location is amazing. The staff were extremely patient and friendly.
