I've raised this with the hotel already, but the manager's response below isn't true. At reception, I was asked to pay €360 for each room, although my December booking was for two rooms over two nights for €360 in total. I sent the manager both payment receipts and the booking by email, expecting the extra €360 to be returned. Instead, they made fun of me and said I wouldn't get my money back because I hadn't “followed the procedure.” I'm very disappointed and won't stay there again. I often visit Ranshofen for work, and I'll make sure our Austrian suppliers don't recommend Ambiance and ParkHotel. If this isn't a crime, I don't know what is.

We booked through Hotels.com at 5pm to get the best rate, but the hotel's booking reference didn't arrive until after 11pm. Without it, we couldn't even get into the building, so we had to call customer service to speak to someone and obtain the reference. Check-in is by computer, and there's no one to talk to after 6pm.

The bus stop is right outside for Branau, or it's a 25-minute walk to town, and taxis are easy to find and cheap. This feels more like a business hotel, but it was adequate for a few nights. Rooms varied quite a bit in style and size, though all seemed clean and functional. There were a couple of issues with kettles and blinds, and sockets and light switches were in odd places. Breakfast was fine, but the coffee machine was too small and kept running out of water and beans. The juice machine had no orange juice for many days and only dispensed water. There were no other meals available, the bar wasn't open in the evenings, and there was no evening reception. Entry was by PIN code.

The fitness center is great, with professional equipment for any level. It's a first-rate business hotel, and all the rooms are clean and spacious enough. The breakfast buffet gets an 8 out of 10 from me.

A super clean hotel, and the staff are lovely and kind. Omar and Emanuela especially are top-class people!
