JUFA Hotel Bruck

We were four people travelling from Poland to Italy and needed somewhere to stay when it was already getting late. Our arrival was going to be well past midnight, but the kind woman at reception agreed over the phone to leave our key in a safe box outside. Thank you so much! The room was clean and cosy, with a nice terrace and view, and everything was comfortable. Paying in the morning was no problem. Breakfast was tasty, with lots to choose from. My stay at hotel Jufa was just great, 10/10 🙏🏻😊

A decent, clean hostel/hotel in a great spot for hiking nearby, including the Bärenschützklamm. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and breakfast was okay. Most of the rolls and Kornspitz were still a bit cold or frozen in the middle, so the baked goods could have been thawed properly. The hotel has an old-fashioned but perfectly fine classic “Kegelbahn”, the Germanic version of bowling, which kept the kids busy after dinner. Our family room had a double bed and two single beds upstairs on the mezzanine, plus a spare fold-out bed in the main room, so five people could have fit comfortably.

We needed accommodation for Finnish and Canadian national ice stock teams, around 35 people altogether, and finding a hotel for everyone wasn’t easy. I contacted a few places last autumn, and it soon became clear that Jufa hotel Bruck an der Mur was the best option. The hotel manager, Wolfgang, made communication smooth and clear from the start. We got good offers for both teams and quickly settled the booking. I was very happy with how easily we could organise the trip, many thanks for that. The location was handy, 10-15 minutes by car from Kapfenberg (WM2025), and just outside Bruck city centre. We had a conference room, and breakfast was a great buffet with plenty of choice and freshly baked bread. They served it at flexible times to fit our competition schedule. Each day we could also choose a buffet dinner or à la carte after returning from the ice hall. Everything was delicious, with special thanks to the kitchen staff. The women at reception and the lobby bar served us every day with a smile and such friendliness. We’ll always remember that. And everyone spoke English, which was a big plus 👍🏻. Our stay was great, and we’d come back anytime if we have competitions nearby again.

The nearby nature was the one part I liked. We came hoping for a quiet break, but there were groups of children staying at the hotel and it was noisy much of the time, so it didn't suit that at all. I wouldn't come back. There seem to be better places in the area. Our arrival was especially frustrating. A biking event had filled every parking space within 400 metres, and the staff bluntly told us to find somewhere in town and return in 3-4 hours. We got no apology or warning beforehand. Then we had to haul our bag, which weighed over 15 kg, up a very steep road to the hotel, about 400 metres away. An email in advance would have made the situation easier to accept. If we'd not paid already, I would've left for another hotel straight away. The staff were okay, but rarely helpful or friendly. We barely got a smile or a kind word, and nobody asked how our stay was. It felt like we got only the bare minimum of attention. That first encounter was a terrible way to treat guests, and the stay as a whole wasn't very comfortable or enjoyable.
