The mattress was much too firm and really needs replacing. At check-in, we were the only guests, and the building was dark with all the lights off. It felt creepy, almost like a haunted house, especially at night. The younger dark-haired man who checked us in said his mother was sick, so dinner wouldn't be available and suggested we might not want breakfast either. I was nervous about eating breakfast. My wife liked it, but then got very sick afterward. It made for a rough night.

We booked very late, and the guys still took us in, made us lovely pizzas, and had a few beers with us. I really liked the retro feel, especially the amazing fire and stove in the restaurant. Eva also put together a fabulous breakfast. I love this place.

For skiing in Alpendorf, this was a handy base: the ski bus stop is just two minutes away on the main road, and the bus and rail connections are good. It's a peaceful spot, and the price is budget-friendly. We stayed three nights in Room 8, with a mountain view and a comfortable double bed. The shower was reliably very hot. The place isn't ultra-modern, but it has plenty of old-fashioned Austrian charm. Breakfast was generous with a good selection each day, and we enjoyed the chicken dish at dinner on both occasions we ate there. The hosts were pleasant and attentive. We wish them success and will definitely return.

It's a peaceful guesthouse, a good choice if you want to relax. You do need to drive a bit for winter or summer sports. The value for money is excellent. If someone wants to complain, they could try Hotel Seeblick in Goldegg instead, where six nights cost €3500.
