For 190 € a night, this hotel did not meet even basic expectations for comfort, condition or security. I can't recommend it, especially when Innsbruck has better options for similar or lower prices. The room felt very worn out and poorly maintained. The bed was like sleeping on a wooden plank instead of a proper mattress. Worse, the door lock was broken and wouldn't secure the room properly. My room faced the smoking area, so smoke smell and disturbance were constant. Ask for another location when booking, though the owner may become hostile if you complain or request a change. I was extremely disappointed with the stay.

The staff were wonderful, friendly and good at their jobs. The building is charming and cozy, with lots of unique touches. Breakfast was very good, with plenty to choose from: cold cuts, vegetables, cereal, yogurt, eggs, hot meats, pastries, bread, jams, syrups, fresh fruit, cheese and more. Coffee drinks, tea, juice and still or sparkling water were included. Two problems kept the stay from being more than okay. The Wi-Fi worked in the lobby and restaurant, but my room was a complete dead zone. I had a personal virtual meeting in the evening and didn't want to take it in a public space. If I were fine with having no privacy, I could have stayed in a hostel; I paid more for a private room. I'd have understood an internet outage in the middle of nowhere, but this hotel is in Innsbruck and lists Wi-Fi as an amenity, so I still feel let down. On my last night, the shower and sink taps were cold in the evening. I've never had this happen at a hotel in a busy city like Innsbruck, and given the nightly rate, I was unimpressed. I don't think guests should have to plan a shower around whether hot water might be available. The hotel is farther from the city center, which suited me as an avid walker. Bus fans should be fine too, since a free bus pass is included if you stay two nights. I hope my problems were a fluke and nobody else runs into them. The place is delightful and has the potential to be perfect for most people, but I wouldn't have had complaints if the room Wi-Fi and hot water had worked properly.

The traditional decor gave the place a nice feel, and the staff were friendly. The food was great too, with vegetarian choices available. But finding no bottled water in the room in the middle of the night was frustrating. I also missed having a kettle, dental kit, or slippers. At the very least, I think guests should have water without needing to ask.

The service was a real bright spot, especially Della, the friendly Italian guy who had interesting conversations and poured a good pint. Breakfast was lovely, and I liked the main building's interior. My room was less appealing: I was in the “triple family room” in a separate building on the ground floor. It was very hot, and I didn't feel safe leaving the windows open. I slept poorly both nights.

The mountain views from my solo room were breathtaking, and the hotel felt peaceful throughout. It's on the outskirts, but buses and trams run regularly. After a five-minute walk, the city center is about ten minutes away. The building has an antique charm, like a beautifully preserved piece of history, and the Christmas decorations made it especially cozy and festive. Breakfast was delicious, and the reception staff were incredibly kind. They accommodated all my requests without hesitation.
