Hotel Ischgl

We were surprised by how much we enjoyed our last-minute four-night family ski break. We live in Switzerland, just a 20-minute bus ride from a nice ski resort, but fancied trying somewhere different and happened upon Hotel Ischgl without any particular expectations. The rooms were clean and pleasant, and the wellness facilities were a relaxing way to unwind after a cold day. Shops, bars and restaurants are close by, the ski lift is six minutes away, and it’s a 10-minute walk to the other side of town and the spa with its outdoor pool and sauna. Best of all was the food. Breakfast, afternoon snacks and dinner were wonderful, some of the best we’ve had in Europe. It was lovely to start the day with breakfast, come back to a snack after skiing, then enjoy dinner. Thanks for making our break such a fantastic experience. We’d happily return anytime.

We were especially impressed by the wait staff, Alexandra, Fabian, Milla and Angelika. They were kind, friendly and worked so hard. Gian Marco at the front desk was always helpful and kind, too. The menu had lots of variety and catered for different diets, including vegetarian and vegan, and the salad buffet was amazing. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and it’s an easy walk to the gondola. The sauna is small, but really nice. We had a lovely week here.

They make you feel at home here. Management goes above and beyond, and the staff are warm and helpful. This is a charming, traditional mountain hotel, just what you’d expect in Austria, with great rooms. There’s a generous breakfast buffet plus free à la carte options, then a small afternoon snack after the slopes with a hot dish, cold cuts and cake. Dinner is a highlight, usually four or five courses. The spa is free and has five different saunas. It’s a good location, about five minutes on foot to the main gondola and ten to the village centre. Simply perfect.

The staff were wonderful, friendly and attentive, and they made our holiday even better. Dinner was very good and came without delay. Our room suited us well and was cleaned every day. The sauna was spotless and had more types than I expected. A cup of tea afterwards made for a really relaxing finish. I would have liked tea ready after skiing, and the room kettle didn’t show up until the last day, but those are small gripes. We really enjoyed the holiday. Thank you.
