Olympia

After more than 30 years skiing around Europe and the USA, the Olympia and Ischgl are now among our favourite destination combinations. We’ll definitely go back. The owners are around and involved from morning until night, making sure guests are happy, and nothing seems too much trouble. Lift passes and reserved parking were ready when we arrived. The welcome is genuinely friendly, and the family management, waitresses, and cleaners are all cheerful, engaging, and exceptionally helpful. We’ve always enjoyed Austria in both summer and winter, with its efficient service and high standards, and the Olympia and Ischgl stand out. My first review was posted and then removed for some reason apparently related to Google’s algorithms, so I’m trying again to explain why we gave the hotel five stars in every category.

A really lovely, family-run hotel with very helpful staff. I’d only change the breakfast by adding more hot choices, maybe pancakes or a full English. Still, the eggs went down well.

The hotel even arranged ribbons and flowers on a breakfast table with just eight hours’ notice for an anniversary in my family. That thoughtful gesture made the occasion feel special. We had a 10/10 stay and will return. Chris was my main point of contact, and he’s a salt-of-the-earth person, as is the whole family who own and run Hotel Olympia. We stayed in Ischgl in early August, and I’d say try the restaurant downstairs on your first night, and honestly the second as well. They source their poultry from their own local family farm. The veal schnitzel was memorable, and the tartare was beautifully presented and among the best I’ve ever had. In the USA we call that kind of thing “class.”

After a full day on the slopes, the sauna and gym were great places to unwind, and there’s also a massage therapist on site. Breakfast was a huge buffet, with fresh pastries, fruit, and omelets made to order. I’m pretty sure I gained about 5 pounds just from that. Hotel Olympia Ischgl sits in the heart of the Austrian Alps, surrounded by mountain views, and has a luxurious but cozy, relaxed feel. It made for a brilliant winter getaway, a chance to get away from everyday life and enjoy the Alps.
