Pleasant holiday apartments in a family ski resort.

The hosts were absolutely charming, and the accommodation was wonderful and in a great location. Everything was very clean and well maintained. We had all we needed, and could easily have asked for anything else. I’ve seen some negative reviews here and was surprised. If you don’t want any contact with locals, a hotel might suit you better than privately run accommodation. For tips about the area around Kappel, just ask the hosts.

Our stay at Apart Romantica was a nightmare, and I can’t recommend it at all. What should have been a relaxing holiday became stressful and uncomfortable. The host came into our room several times without warning or permission. It felt intimidating and disrespectful, and we never felt at ease or like we had any privacy. At checkout, we also found a pile of unexpected charges. Cleaning and tourist tax, which we thought would be included, were very expensive extras that hadn’t been clearly explained, so we paid far more than expected and felt ripped off. A lousy experience: no privacy, surprise fees, and an uncomfortable atmosphere. Stay well away.

The garage was useful for getting to the slopes in the morning, but that was about the only plus for us. The owners came into our room every day while we were out to shut the windows, without telling us first, even though we'd asked them not to. We only found out halfway through the trip, and I think that was really unfair. The kitchen is old and has no extractor hood, and even basics like sugar, salt, and pepper were missing. There was a place for ski boots, but no proper room for ski equipment. It was also nearly impossible to get a steady shower: with the two taps, the water temperature and pressure kept changing every few seconds. For four people staying a week, there was just one toilet roll and one garbage bag. We also found the whole Ischgl region overrated. We won't be back.
