Hotel Angerwirt

The views from our large, very clean room were incredible: the garden loungers by the little river, then the Ennskraxn range and mountains all around. We had a wonderful stay at this small family-run Hotel Angerwirt. Katharina and Christoph put so much care into running it and still make time for guests. Even the complimentary afternoon coffee and cake felt like a sweet thank-you. Breakfast was fresh, homemade, and had a great choice of fruit and everything else. They even cooked a soft-boiled egg to order, which we hadn’t had in ages. Thanks to Katharina's mother for that! In the evening we ate at partner hotel Hanneshof, a few hundred meters away. Dinner was delicious with lots of variety. The wines at Angerwirt's lovely bar, open until 10 pm, were excellent and well chosen. The little pool, sauna, and clean wellness area were inviting, and the relaxation room with its tea station was lovely too. We really enjoyed our holiday. Thanks to everyone for having us!

We spent August 25th to 30th, 2025 at Hotel Angerwirt in Kleinarl. After a bad experience with Lidl Reisen at another hotel in Germany, I arrived pretty skeptical. That feeling disappeared as soon as we walked in. The Haitzmann family’s hospitality and the hotel itself were far beyond what we expected. The whole place is nicely furnished, and our room was cleaned and looked after every day. It was very clean, with everything from shower gel to a hairdryer. Breakfast had a huge selection, eggs were cooked to order, and there was as much coffee of any kind as we wanted. They also served complimentary coffee and cake in the afternoon, with the hot drink included. Dinner was at the neighboring Hotel Hanneshof, about 100 meters away. Its staff were polite and capable under the Schernthaner family’s management. We chose from the three-course menu each morning. The setting felt very exclusive, and the food was delicious. Back at Angerwirt, there’s an indoor pool, saunas, and a quiet relaxation area with different teas, as well as a fitness room. Outside, the grounds are well kept, with loungers by the mountain stream and a terrace for coffee in good weather. Hanneshof also has a lovely outdoor swimming area, and Angerwirt provides bathrobes, towels, and a bag for guests to use. There’s plenty to do in Kleinarl. Depending on how many nights you stay, the Salzburg Sportwelt Card gives free rides up and down on the Chamber Jack and Lumber Jack chairlifts, though check their opening times. We had a wonderful stay here with my wife and our four children, and I’m grateful for the warm hospitality. Hotel Angewirt sits among beautiful mountains, with a bus stop right nearby. It was easy to get around without a car, including to picturesque Jägersee lake, just a few stops away. The stream and waterfall sounds made the setting feel peaceful despite the traffic, and the surrounding landscape is lovely for guests of any age. The family running the hotel clearly cares about guests and works hard to make things right. The cleaning staff and maintenance man deserve thanks too, their work shows throughout the property. Breakfast was plentiful, with boiled or fried eggs freshly made on request. The indoor pool and three saunas were clean and well maintained. There’s also an outdoor pool about 200 meters uphill beside the Hanneshof Hotel, with a great valley view. The walk there is pleasant, and dinner at Hanneshof means enjoying the scenery along the way. The attentive staff serve a tasty three-course meal, and seconds are offered if you’re still hungry. For the price, I think the value is fair, especially with the extras. The hotel provides tickets for free entry to the water park (Aquapark), the cable car, and public transport, which can save quite a bit during your stay, at least for now. The food was delicious, with every course full of flavor. For relaxing, nature, skiing, and good meals, Hotel Angewirt worked really well for us. We hope to return.
