Kristiania Lech

The half-board was good, and most of our seven-night stay was enjoyable. We had a suite on the top floor, but a few things made the experience fall short of five stars. At checkout, the hotel couldn't find the 50% deposit I'd paid six months earlier and presented the full accommodation bill as if nothing had been prepaid. I had to pull up the card record from the cloud and show the payment date. It took them about an hour to locate their bank records and confirm it, so checkout took 1 hour and 20 minutes from when I started. Breakfast timing was another problem. I ordered at 8:10, and the coffee, starter, main and sides took around 40-45 minutes to arrive. Service seemed to clog when there were more than five or six tables, with too few staff. Since the chairlift opens at 8:30 and breakfast only starts at 8, early skiers face a rush. The free shuttle helps, but still takes time, and the hotel isn't on the slope.

I can't wait to come back to the Kristiania. The staff were attentive, professional and accommodating throughout, and the hotel's details feel carefully put together. Robert was especially lovely, the sort of person you hope to meet. Ms. Schneider is glamorous and charismatic, and makes time to handle things with guests herself. That kind of professionalism is hard to find.

The food was mediocre, the rooms felt dated, and management came across as hostile. Awful stay, I wouldn't recommend staying here.

Andre, our server from Lisbon, was friendly and knew the menu really well. The service was fantastic, and the restaurant's food, wine and cocktails were all excellent, with plenty to choose from. It's my favourite restaurant in Lech, and I'd happily return whenever I'm there.
