We’re coming back this winter. Snowho was such a fantastic B&B in a wonderful setting last year. The location is hard to beat: the Zursersee lift is five steps away, right beside the Zurs slopes, so you can be on a lift within a minute of leaving the door. Other Zurs lifts are across the ski bridge. Zursersee can start you on the White Ring route through Lech and even to Warth, now linked to Lech by lift. The ski bus below the hotel goes to Lech, or to St. Anton if you want to use your lift card there. Snowho is the kind of small, cozy B&B I hoped to find in the Austrian Alps: charming, fun, easygoing, and friendly. Fiona and the staff make you feel like an old friend staying in their spare room, without hovering. The shared areas are relaxed, with a big fireplace in the main room and a kitchen for preparing the buffet breakfast. Upstairs, the private guest rooms mix old and new decor, and the beds and linens are very comfortable. I stayed in the sport room, a double that shares a shower and bathroom with two other rooms. There are also rooms with private baths. Breakfast and coffee are plentiful, and they replenish things during the morning when the house is full. They’ll cook eggs how you like them, and there’s everything you’d expect from an Alps mountain breakfast. If you want five-star luxury, jacuzzi pools, and 10 euro beers, there are nearby hotels for that. If you’re after a casual stay, a fun atmosphere, and the feeling of being with a friend who happens to be a great host, this is a great choice.
