The house was much smaller than the pictures suggested, and getting there on the road to Embach felt dangerous. I wouldn’t attempt it in a family car. Embach has no bakery, and its only shop didn’t have enough for even a basic meal. A very disappointing stay.

There’s a small supermarket with what you need for an apartment stay, though it only takes cash. The apartments are in a lovely Austrian village with four or five restaurants serving excellent Austrian food. Both ski slopes are an easy walk away, and in summer you can set off on beautiful hikes right from the apartment. Two beautiful holiday apartments that are perfectly adequate. Highly recommended.

I come back every year, and I don’t understand the one-star reviews. It’s a great base for hiking and exploring the area, with a really fair price that I think is the lowest around. The place is spotless, the couple are lovely, and breakfast is great: fresh pastries, an egg, and everything else you might need.

Embach has beautiful scenery, and the apartment itself is very clean with a fair price for what you get. The landlady is relaxed and flexible. I’d definitely stay here again. Simply fantastic.
