Gasthof zur Post

At the Gasthof Post, also known as the "Birnbaumer Wirt," the hospitality is truly warm, and the pizzas, pasta, and fine wine are excellent. Edoardo and his team really try to keep hungry guests happy. The rooms are affordable and simply furnished, so anyone expecting five-star luxury may be in the wrong place. But for a friendly, affordable stay with breathtaking views over the mountains and valleys of the Carnic Dolomites, it’s a great fit. There are plenty of nearby mountain hikes, too. We’d gladly return.

The innkeepers were friendly, and the pizza was very good. What really stayed with me was the view: mountains under the setting sun, an absolutely breathtaking panorama from the window. I came across the place by chance while passing through, after striking out at several nearby inns. The owner explained he had just taken over the building and was still renovating, so he didn’t actually have rooms available. I convinced him to let me use an unrenovated one. It was fine, with a very 70s look in orange and brown.

We were very happy with both the food and the accommodation. Our room was nice, and the windows kept out noise well. The host was very friendly. Highly recommend!
