Alpenhotel Karwendel - Adults Only

My second stay in March 2026 was even better than the first, though I’d thought that was impossible. The hotel is only a few metres from the cross-country loipe, and the snow in the Leutasch valley was in great shape despite the warm spring weather. I skied in the mornings, walked in the afternoons, then relaxed in the pool and spa. The team lets you choose how active or relaxed you want to be, and everything remains comfortable and thoughtfully run. The food at the Karwendel was even more magical this time. It’s hard to know how they make such good meals every day from fresh, local ingredients, put together in inventive ways. Robert, Petra, Zina, and the rest of the hardworking team served it all with such friendliness. Thanks to the Rödlach family and all of Team Karwendel. Until next time! On my first visit, I loved the food, the beautiful panorama pool, and the well designed, well kept wellness area. I also went hiking in the magical landscape, and the hotel lent me trekking poles and a rucksack. The professional, friendly team made me feel welcome, as did the other guests, from check-in until I said goodbye to the shuttle driver at Mittenwald station. I was travelling alone but never felt lonely.

The hotel is a great base for hiking, and the view is amazing. The saunas are professional, the food is delicious, and the staff are friendly and helpful. I could really switch off here.

After a sauna, you can cool off in the natural lake, then relax in the sun and finish the day with a good meal. The spa is great and the service is welcoming. For a hike, try leaving after 8am, when breakfast starts, for Wangalm, or, if you’re up for it, continue to the Errinerungshuette and take the long descent along the puittal.

After five hours of skiing, my wife and I went into the restaurant hungry and thirsty, expecting a welcome. Instead, a staff member shouted at us, which was embarrassing, so we left without eating or drinking. From outside, the place looked high class, and this wasn’t the experience we expected.
