Hotel Pension Rotspitz

The breakfast was good, though the room was a bit crowded. We had a dog with us, and the €25 per night dog fee is far too much when you get nothing extra for it. The place itself is nice, but I think we got the worst room, with no balcony and a view down onto the parking lot. Seems more suited to older guests.

Of all the hotels on our recent trip, this was the best. The room had everything we needed, and the nearby sauna area was relaxing and enjoyable. Breakfast was one of the best I've ever had at a hotel. The only slight drawback was no latte, but we could overlook that. We'll definitely come back.

We ended up booking a third weekend because Rotspitz offers a fair deal for the area and high season, with everything we needed. We stayed on two consecutive weekends in August 2024. Hotel parking was free, and the location was just about perfect: a 10-15 minute walk to the lake, restaurants and supermarkets within walking distance, lots of short and long hiking routes, and a cable car. Some lake spots have serviced beaches with an entry fee, but there are free access points too. We could go for a swim before breakfast. We finished most evenings with draft beer at the lovely outdoor seating area, sometimes with local Kaiserschmarren. The breakfast buffet was quite good for a midscale hotel; we didn't try lunch or dinner. Staff were super friendly, helpful, and happy to chat. The rooms were a little old and the bathrooms small, but everything was well maintained and quite clean. Our first weekend was in a double room with a balcony and a small view; the second was in a junior suite with no view, near a busy street, though it wasn't noisy at night. Neither room had a fridge, which was a downside, but there was a vending machine with chilled drinks at fair prices.

The service was simply unacceptable. The owner shouted at my husband and me and refused to let us in, then still charged my card. This felt like fraud. Stay away.
