Haus Romantica

We slept well, and it was completely quiet. The place was clean and the service was good. There’s secure motorcycle parking in the garage too.

The morning bread delivery was a lovely touch, and the room had plenty of space even for a longer stay. Everything was very clean. It’s a peaceful but central spot, so getting around was easy. The host was so friendly and helpful that we felt welcome right away. We really enjoyed the apartment and would gladly come back. Highly recommend it.

The landlady was very nice, and we felt comfortable throughout our January 2025 winter break at Haus Romantica. Our new apartment was beautifully furnished, cozy, clean, and well equipped, with lots of storage and bread delivery. The location was quiet. A small grocery store is about five minutes away, while the town center and the highly recommended Habicher bakery are around a ten-minute walk. Thanks for making our stay so pleasant.

This review is from 2015. I had to revise it after it was removed because I mentioned the host family’s name, which is no longer allowed. We spent six or seven January ski holidays at Haus Romantica, staying once in the apartment for up to four people and the rest of the time in the smaller one for two. Both have since been modernized, including flat-screen TVs and ceramic cooktops. The apartments were spotless and well cared for, with everything needed for self-catering. The kitchens had plenty of dishes, glasses, pots, dishwashers, proper four-burner cooktops, and all the utensils needed to cook. We’ve stayed elsewhere where the kitchen was so bare you could barely do more than heat up a canned meal. I’m not sure about Wi-Fi reception, but it wasn’t much of an issue for us when we were last there in 2014. The house also has a sauna, though it’s small. Two people can lie down, or four can sit. They turn it on at the time you request, including in the evening, and can arrange it at short notice if you let them know. There’s no relaxation room, so we went back to our apartment afterward. It costs €7 per person. The apartment prices are very reasonable, and the bread delivery means you don’t need to go out for bread in the morning. The house is in a very quiet spot on the mountain with a beautiful view. The walk up from the ski bus stop is quite steep. In Nauders, though, you have to walk uphill or downhill almost everywhere. It’s a mountain village, and few places to stay avoid a climb to or from the ski bus. That’s part of its charm: it wasn’t built up just for tourism, has expanded in a manageable way, and is still an actively farmed village. There’s a farm beside Haus Romantica where the cows stay in the barn during winter, and sometimes you can hear them mooing. Restaurants and bars in the village center are only a 7-10 minute walk away. Walking uphill without skis and ski boots is much easier :-) We were very happy there and felt at home. The owners are kind and welcoming, and as regular guests we were often given cake in the afternoon. Once our car got stuck, since we always drove to the valley station instead of taking the ski bus, and help was arranged straight away. We stayed in touch for years after we stopped taking holidays in Nauders. If we ever ski there again, we’ll stay at Haus Romantica. For us, nowhere else would be an option. A well-deserved five stars!
