Hotel Zehnerkar & Hotel Obertauern

The chairlift is immediately behind this clean, modern hotel, which makes it ideally placed for skiing. The ski room is especially good, with individual lockers for each guest’s skis and boots. There are facilities to suit everyone, and the website shows what’s on offer. The staff are all friendly, and Istuan and his team go out of their way to make dining better. Nothing seems too much trouble.

Istvan and his team in the restaurant kept us well fed and entertained all week, with exceptional service. We also found the rooms spacious, comfortable, clean, and modern, and the hotel facilities were great. After skiing, the spa had everything we needed to recover, including sauna, steam, and ice rooms. We had a fantastic time at Hotel Zehnerkar.

We had a good stay in a very clean, kid-friendly hotel, with cozy rooms and wonderfully friendly, attentive staff at every point. Rooms were made up quickly, usually while people were at breakfast. The ski storage was excellent, with individual lockers for each room. The location worked well: it’s beside a ski school meeting point, and the next lift station is about a 5-10 minute ski away. On the way back down, you can ski right to the hotel entrance. Breakfast had a nice selection, and the scrambled eggs were properly cooked and warm. A couple of things could be better. The bathrooms look dated, and the single-room bathrooms are tiny, which may be difficult for larger guests or anyone with limited mobility. The pool is nice, though small, and the gym isn’t very well equipped. The room price includes more food than you can realistically eat. Breakfast was great, but dinner was mixed: some courses were amazing, while others were just okay. The salmon, for example, was a bit overcooked and dry.

You can put your skis on as soon as you leave the hotel and head straight to the nearby chairlift. A great spot for skiing in and out. Great.
