Sporthotel Snowwhite

The food was tasty, the staff friendly, and I really liked staying here. Rooms come in different styles, some quite modern and some older, but all were clean and nice. There's a ski storage area right by the slope, and the hotel is just across a small street from it. It's a five-minute walk to the town's restaurants. Nothing to complain about.

The food was a real plus: both breakfast and dinner were very good, well above average. Service was quick and friendly, and cleanliness in the rooms and throughout the hotel was exceptional. The wellness area has a pool and several saunas, with massages available for an extra charge. It's a cute hotel in Obertauern, close to the slopes, and the ski course meeting point is just around the corner. Renovations have left it with a mix of classic and modern design. They mostly promote the new rooms, though, which can set the wrong expectation. Overall, a very nice experience.

The pool wasn't heated, and breakfast was below average with few options. There are better places to stay. When I checked the booking options, only the superior double rooms appeared renovated; the other two room types weren't, despite what the website photos showed. I chose the larger renovated room, assuming the higher price meant I was getting a preferred room. Before arriving, I asked for a high, quiet room because I suffer from insomnia. The hotel replied that this was the only available room and it wasn't on a high floor. I was shocked to find it on the ground floor, facing the hotel club. A parked car blocked the terrace door leading to the road, and within five minutes two kids passing by were violently knocking on it. The club next door, owned by the hotel, was blasting music so loudly the floor vibrated. I went straight to reception and politely asked to switch rooms or I would leave. I then learned the hotel had renovated rooms that weren't listed on booking, substantially smaller than the room shown on the website. It made me feel a bit deceived, as I felt that choice had deliberately been withheld from me. The receptionist said those rooms were cheaper because they were smaller. They were on the highest floor and still faced the club, but at least the floor didn't shake. The kind receptionist assured me the club closed at 22:00. On Sunday it did, but on Monday it closed at 23:10, and on Tuesday I had to go down at 23:30 to point out it was still operating. At the end of the stay, I was charged the full superior double room rate even though I had been staying in a double room with a shower. I asked the manager why I was charged for the better room, and he said that was what I had booked.
