Gutshof zum Schluxen

We really enjoyed our stay at Schluxen. It’s a family-run place in a beautiful setting, close to the castles and the Alps. My husband and I would happily recommend it.

The trusting, friendly atmosphere made this place feel wholesome, and we’ll be back. Our family spanned four generations, and during our two weeks here there was something for everyone: the playroom and playground, barbecue and fire pit, sauna after a long day, massage chair in the morning, and warm water beds after getting caught in the rain on a hike. Fresh rolls, a pizza oven, and a little shop with really fair prices made things even easier. The setting is just as memorable, with national parks, one of Europe’s few wild rivers, golden peaks at sunrise and sunset, clouds drifting through the mountains, and clear green lakes reflecting them. There are famous and lesser-known castles, a kids’ slide into the forest, a big suspension bridge, and the mixed sounds of distant cowbells and neighing horses. We came as a family of four generations, and every one of us found something to love.

We only stayed two nights on a family trip, and I already wished we’d booked longer. Markus was so friendly and helpful at check-in, and the historic building on a working farm is unique and clearly well cared for. Our room was good, and the little honesty shop had reasonable prices. We made pizza in the oven one evening, while the kids had fun in the playroom. There’s also an easy walk up the hill with a lovely valley view, especially at sunset. The whole place has a relaxed, welcoming feel that makes you want to return.

The room was spacious, with a lovely view of horses and goats against the mountains. There’s free parking and a pantry stocked with food and drinks on an honor system. Just be aware there’s no elevator, so carrying suitcases up to a third-floor room can be a bit of a workout. The sauna wasn’t working when we were there.
