Wörthersee-Residenz Gatternig

The apartment was cozy and spotless, and the location was superb. Mrs. Gatternig was so friendly and accommodating, and the two cleaning ladies worked quietly all day. At other places we’ve heard vacuuming and loud conversations from 9 in the morning, but here it stayed wonderfully peaceful. They made sure everything we wanted was taken care of. We felt completely at ease and would happily come back. We’d stayed here a few years earlier and were just as satisfied this time.

That walk across the lake was a real treat, and the beach is only three minutes away. It’s tucked behind a hedge, so it feels secluded and peaceful. The family-run atmosphere is fantastic, with such warm staff and a level of courtesy I haven’t found anywhere else. I’ve spent several summer holidays at Residenz Gatternig, and the clean, spacious rooms are always a pleasure. The apartments are absolutely enormous. Breakfast is divine, especially the homemade spreads and cakes. Highly recommended!

We got a friendly welcome, and the place is spacious and clean, with its own lake access. It’s also an easy walk from the train station. This was our first stay at the Gatternig Residence, but surely won’t be our last. We’d love to return next year.

I tried to book at the Gatternig guesthouse a little over a week ago and asked for a quick confirmation because I had a wedding invitation and the Iron Man race was on the same date. They said they’d do their best, but I never heard back. The owner called me twice by mistake and explained that she’d made an error and couldn’t handle it herself while abroad. I asked again for a prompt quote, but got a curt, dismissive reply. From this experience, I assume guests aren’t a high priority at the Gatternig guesthouse, and I strongly advise against booking there.
