Hotel-Gasthof Unterwirt

We usually try a different ski resort every year, but we’ll definitely return to skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm. The skiing is decent, the gondola and lift network is amazing, and there’s a free bus between the villages. Saalbach itself is a lovely ski village with plenty of shops, bars, restaurants, and nightlife if you’re into après-ski. The New Year’s party at Goasstal bar in Hinterglemm was a blast. We booked this hotel by phone at the last minute on the morning of 31.12. because we wanted to experience the resort’s New Year celebrations. Luckily, a room was available, and the staff were very accommodating. Our double room faced the high street and had two windows. The bed was very comfortable, and everything was clean. The location is fantastic, with the Schattberg X-press gondola right behind the hotel, less than a minute away on foot. Breakfast had a good choice of hot and cold items. Parking was free, either in front of the building or behind it. Guests also get free use of the sauna, steam room, relaxation room, infrared light room, and sunbed. There’s a large ski room with a heated boot rack, also free to use. You can secure your skis with your own padlock, and there’s CCTV. The price over New Year may have been a little higher, but it was definitely worth it.
