The bed was comfortable, and the kitchen had a fridge, kettle, cups, dishes, and utensils. The WiFi worked somewhat in the room, but was best in the kitchen. It’s about a mile from town, with the number 10 bus stop very close by and a ten-minute ride into town. There’s also a Spar nearby and Siam Thai, which is amazing. We got bitten by mosquitoes overnight, but killed them all the next morning and had no more bites. It gets a little warm in summer without AC or a fan, though it’s manageable. The toilet leaked brown liquid from the bottom, which wasn’t ideal.

The room itself was good for the price, a decent size, and fairly clean. I was exhausted and slept 11 hours in the comfortable bed. The place is a long way out, which I knew, but Salzburg’s buses can be confusing if you don’t know how they work, and Ubers or Bolts can take a long time to arrive. I hadn’t realised that, and nearly missed a tour I’d booked, though I made it in time. The room quality impressed me and it was what I needed. Just keep the location in mind, or consider staying in the city if directions aren’t your strong point like they aren’t mine. My main issue was the service when I arrived very late because of train delays, which weren’t my fault. I asked the landlady to help me open the door because I’m from New Zealand, the doors and locks are very different there, and it was my first time in Europe. She didn’t explain how to open it helpfully, so I googled it and now have no problem. She was quite rude about me not knowing. I was exhausted after a long day and would have appreciated some kindness. At checkout, she was polite, so maybe she’d just had a bad day.

The bus into town was easy to catch, and there’s a Spar nearby along with a few cafes and restaurants. Our stay was comfortable. Breakfast was simple, toast, cheese, ham and jam, with tea and coffee. There aren’t facilities in the rooms. A taxi from the airport for five people cost €8.50.

It’s a cosy B&B with typical Austrian furnishings and a friendly host. The airport is right next door, and it’s a 15-minute drive to the city centre. Parking and WiFi are free. Our room was clean, towels were provided, and we could see some mountains from the window.
