The view was beautiful, though the hotel is a long way from the center. It’s close to the Alps, so the setting made the distance worthwhile for me. I stayed one night and would come again. The room was large and very clean, and the service was good. The food was nice, with a limited selection, but there were plenty of different juices.

It was easy to take the bus into town, and breakfast was good. The room seemed clean and was simple, without a kettle or safe, until I found a tampon under the bed. The shower temperature kept swinging from freezing to boiling, sometimes within 30 seconds, for no apparent reason.

The breakfast was very good, and my quiet room looked out over a lovely green garden. But the staff weren’t friendly, and communicating with reception was difficult. When a group of 60 people arrives, I don’t think it’s normal for there to be nobody from the hotel who can answer your questions. It was a mess. There’s also nowhere to eat nearby, so you have to walk 40-60 minutes to the city center or take a taxi.

The guesthouse rooms were clean and well organized, with cozy traditional decor and balconies. The main house is modern, and the breakfast terrace has splendid views. Breakfast was very good, with local food. The location is lovely and easy to reach by bike from the city center. One thing really bothered me: a male staff member greeted me with “Hallo Schätzchen.” That’s not an acceptable way to address guests, especially women. I hope they provide training so it doesn’t happen again.

I booked through salzburg.info as part of the Salzburg Card package. The listing says public transportation is close, which is only partly true: the nearest bus station is over 1 km away, not great if you depend on transit. I arrived around 5 pm to check in and leave my luggage, but the sliding doors were locked and required a key card. Two workers were at reception. For more than 30 minutes I tried to get in, at times making eye contact and gesturing to show I needed help. They just sat and stared, without speaking to me or trying to help. I ended up in Salzburg for at least three days without the hotel I’d booked, and had to find another place at a premium because it was the weekend and a last-minute booking. Based on that experience, I would NEVER recommend this hotel. The staff were completely unhelpful and left me stranded. I’ve told everyone. Absolutely horrible.
