Residenz am See

The beach area at the Hotel Marolt was spotless, and the lifeguard was incredibly friendly. In the evenings, the owner himself helped out wherever needed. The location was excellent, and we had a very successful holiday at the lakeside residence, where we spent 10 days. The outside of the building is a bit dated, but our room was furnished in a modern style, with two large TVs. The kitchen could've used a frying pan and perhaps one more pot, but otherwise it was fantastic. Fresh towels came every day and the room was cleaned regularly. We'd love to come back!

We won't return, and the price-performance ratio just wasn't acceptable. The pedestrian zone was noisy, and we could hear and see the lit-up arcade games across the street. There was no way to darken the room. We stayed in a garden apartment, which was chilly despite the hot weather and had no air conditioning. The building isn't insulated, so it gets very warm, as we realized on arrival before a hot night. On the first night ants were everywhere, not just in a trail, even in our son's crib. We reported it, and they prepared another apartment for us. The service there was very friendly and accommodating. We hadn't known check-in was at the Strandhotel Marolt, so we had to go looking for it.

Thanks, but never again. For that price there are better, cleaner places to stay. The promenade brought noise and various smells up to our apartment. Inside, there weren't enough kitchen utensils for four people, there were spiders in the corners, and one room had no wardrobe. The window frame in the other room was falling apart. The building is old, run-down, dilapidated, and unclean, probably beyond saving. It should have been renovated years ago.

The location right by the lake is fantastic, with plenty of parking, but that's about all we liked. The rooms were poorly furnished, and the TV sat by the kitchen table with only a few channels set up. Maintenance couldn't fix the problem. Wi-Fi worked only sometimes in our room, and cleanliness left a lot to be desired. The sauna area was dirty too. Reception is at Hotel Marolt, where we sometimes felt like we were begging for help.
