Hotel Furian

They advertise dishes on the menu that they don’t actually have, and I wouldn’t recommend giving this place your business. I also asked where I could swim for free, but they wouldn’t suggest anywhere and made it sound hard to find. A nearby restaurant pointed me to a spot just a few minutes’ walk away. What really felt rude was being charged to swim from the dock at a lakeside restaurant, even though I was already paying to eat there.

We loved paddle-boarding on the calm blue water, with the mountains and lake all around us. Paddle-boards and bikes were included, and the town, with plenty of places to eat, was only a few minutes away. The lakeside loungers were comfortable, too. I’ve been lucky enough to visit many beautiful lakes, but Wolfgangsee stands out on its own, as does Hotel Furian. Our balcony had a lovely lake view, and the made-to-order breakfasts were delicious and beautifully presented. Owner Gustav, his son Markus, and the friendly staff made our stay wonderful. The hotel was spotless and beautifully decorated, with free parking right out front. We hope to return!

Breakfast was amazing. The rooms were pretty average, but clean and tidy, and ours had a little balcony just big enough for a small table and two chairs. It’s a casual, family-run hotel in a large, typically Austrian-looking house. There’s an elevator, a small reception desk, and a big terrace with tables at the front. The parking area is small, with room for about five or six cars.

The service was a little strange. One day, someone very young was talking loudly about the Barbie movie, girlfriends, and math homework while singing along to pop music. The next day the owner was there and looked after the guests well. I’d stay again, hoping the owner is around. The hotel is in a beautiful spot with a great mountain view, and the balcony, full of flowers, felt romantic, just as it should :)
