Hotel Forstinger - Boutiquehotel Schärding

I stayed for two nights on a business trip and had such a great time. I'd definitely come back with my family.

The room was spacious and had everything we needed, and breakfast was amazing. In a beautiful town, this is a truly wonderful place to stay. The lovely staff made sure nothing was too much trouble. One of my best stays ever, and I highly recommend it.

The breakfast was excellent, and the service was really nice. The people were so courteous, and the stay was very comfortable.

For one night, I paid €260 including breakfast and expected a much better experience. I travel for work and stay in 20+ hotels each year, ranging from three to five stars. Based on that, Hotel Forstinger doesn't deserve four stars, three at most. I'm not grateful for a stay that nearly ruined what should have been a very nice experience. Luckily, everything else in Schärding was very pleasant. I had booked a “Deluxe Loft, 1 Double Bed, Non Smoking, City View” listed as 538 sq ft (ca. 50 m²). Instead, I was given a room barely 150 sq ft (ca. 14 m²). When I asked reception whether there had been a mistake, they said the loft I'd booked was “closed for the winter.” The room had a poor view of a tired-looking backyard instead of a nice city view. It was much cheaper than the room I'd paid for, and the Loft was still available when I wrote this, so if it was an error, nobody had fixed it. There was mold in the shower, and the bathroom was old and moldy overall. The mattress was disgracefully uncomfortable. The “gym” was just one poor stepping machine in a corridor. Breakfast cost €28 per person and was barely worth €10/person.
