A lovely stay, absolutely delightful. The rooms were beautiful and breakfast was nice.
The location was the one good thing, with a hiking route to the Gleirschklamm gorge starting right there. But we left a day early because the vacation was ruined. On arrival, we were told we’d been given a different apartment from the one we booked. It faced the back, was pitch black, and had no view or balcony. Everything was old and shabby, and the mattresses were completely worn out. Cleanliness was nonexistent: dirt from the three previous guests was still on the dining table, and there was hair in the bathroom and shower. The kitchen was falling apart and lacked even the basics, making self-catering extremely difficult. In any case, the greasy kitchen was so unpleasant you wouldn’t want to cook there, with 20 years’ worth of grime dripping from under the cabinets into the pots.
The guesthouse is clean, though a bit dated, and well located just outside the village. Still, I find it deplorable that the owner refuses to prepare breakfast. It seems like the least you could expect from this kind of place, especially since the booking site bkg says breakfast is available for €15.
The guesthouse has a lovely setting, and the rooms are clean and cared for. But breakfast is extremely basic, and there are no comforts to speak of. At 140 euros for a double room with these amenities, the price feels completely unjustified, really a rip-off.
