The family-run pension is in a beautiful spot, with clean rooms and very kind staff. We usually visit at Easter, and guests are always given chocolate bunnies and eggs. The restaurant is friendly and quite good, and we stayed on half board. It's a convenient base for exploring nearby places on foot or by bike, or driving to Salzburg, Bad Ischl, and even Hallstatt, though it gets very busy there. Across the lake, the little town of St Wolfgang has a cog railway. It's lovely but expensive and crowded, and you need to buy a ticket and book your return time in advance. At Easter, the website shows only three departures on the timetable, even though the railway runs all day. That made planning time on the mountain difficult, especially since the train doesn't go to the top then. Getting to the top and back takes at least three more hours, and you need to reach the cog railway too. You can't find out your return time at the ticket desk when you buy the ticket, since it depends on how many people are going. Even so, it's worth seeing and spending the money.

The rooms are lovely, with a good view and the lake nearby. The food was okay but could be much better, and the staff were generally not very friendly. Dinner is supposed to start at 18:30, but we waited until 19:00 just for someone to bring soup. Without the slow, unfriendly service, it would be great.

The balcony had a lovely view and the hotel felt welcoming. Staff were friendly, the room was clean, and we could settle the bill when we left. But our beds and bedding were poor, and we struggled to sleep. The food was bland too, even though we were on half board.

The hotel was clean, with large rooms and lots of parking. They do accept dogs, though we were just told off because ours barked. Breakfast was poor, and while the hosts gave us useful information, they weren't especially friendly.

A quiet spot and a great base for day trips, with its own lovely beach. We had good food, and the rooms were clean and pleasant. It worked really well for a holiday with kids.
