Appartement Hänsel & Gretel - H E 3 - direkt am Ossiachersee

We booked through wernireisen and found the process easy. The apartment was great, and all the apartments have lake views. The complex sits right on the water, and having a free indoor pool was a lovely extra.

We had a balcony overlooking Lake Ossiach, and the rooms were quiet. Even in such a large building, we hardly noticed noise from other apartments. There’s direct access to the lake, and a small indoor pool for rainy days. We booked an apartment in Haus Gretel through Wernireisen for our family of four, and it worked out really well. There was plenty of space and everything was clean. The furniture has a 1970s feel, but we didn’t mind it, and the place was cozy. The combined living, sleeping, and dining area had a small table for four, a sofa, coffee table, TV, and lots of storage. Even with the fold-out wall bed, there was still room to move around. The separate kids’ room has a clever bunk bed and wardrobe setup. The little kitchen is in the hallway and has nice extras, including a dishwasher and a modern two-burner glass cooktop. The bathroom is on the small side, but it can fit all four of us in a pinch. Parents with young children will know what I mean by that sudden “bathroom stove urge.” All in all, we had a wonderful stay.

The view was worth seeing, but the rooms were neglected and dirty. It looked as though not a single euro had been spent on them in over 40 years.

The shared areas, including the indoor pool, are kept in good shape by a caretaker. There’s also an outdoor area and a beach volleyball court at this lovely lakeside complex. The apartments are privately owned, so they vary a lot: some seem unchanged for 30 years, while others have been renovated.
