Hotel Nibelungenhof

The parking situation is a nightmare and can cost an extra 60-70 euros if you're not careful. I'm really fed up with the guy at reception. Why doesn't the hotel have some kind of arrangement with the parking garage just down the road?

I had to cancel because I was ill, but the hotel kept the full amount, over 400 euros, which I had paid in advance. I asked if they could return at least some of it, but they blocked the cancellation and refused any refund. I strongly don't recommend staying here.

From my room I could see the Donaubühne Tulln stage, and the gardens were easy to reach through the back of the hotel. Cafes and restaurants are only a few minutes away, and Tulln Donau Stadt station is an 8-10 minute walk. I chose a river view room and was let in early right away, without even needing to ask. There was no air conditioning in the room during the heatwave, but being so close to the Danube meant I could keep the window open and sleep comfortably in the breeze. Breakfast had plenty of variety and the owners kept replenishing it. The room was spacious, and the hotel has lots of facilities for cyclists and walkers. Good for a solo trip, couples, families or friends.

The gardens by the river were gorgeous, with lots of spots to sit and enjoy the mild evenings. We were cycling from Passau to Budapest and stopped here for one night, right by the river and the cycle path. Staff were lovely and spoke very good English, which made things easier. We also liked having breakfast outside. Our downstairs room was comfortable, though it felt a bit airless. Perhaps the extra 20 euros for a river view room would have been worth it. There's a lockable place to keep bicycles overnight.
