Almhttendorf Meizeit

The location and house are great, and I could live with there being no ski storage. The owner’s attitude was another matter. When we asked about parking, there was no understanding at all. The website says there are two spaces per house, but apparently that doesn’t mean spaces in front of the house, and you’re lucky to get any space at all. I haven’t encountered that arrangement elsewhere. The owner was rude and accused us of being “pissed.” It seemed they had enough guests that they didn’t feel the need to be friendly. When we left, she complained about receiving a bad review and told us we weren’t welcome back. We travel a lot, and I’ve never experienced such terrible behavior anywhere else. So disappointing.

The food was nice, but the staff could use some lessons in politeness. When we asked for the spoons that were missing, the owner questioned how many soups we’d ordered and whether we really needed so many spoons. It felt tactless. We were also unpleasantly surprised when a drink we hadn’t bought at the bar was poured for a customer.

We’ve been back to Meizeit, and each year gets better. Can’t wait for the next trip. It’s such a great mountain for family time and skiing, whether you stay in one of the fabulous Meizeit Chalets or Hütten / Appartements. We also had lunch or dinner at the Restaurant, with stunning fresh-made Cousine from Chef Martin and fine dining service from Head Bartender Zoltan. Charming “Wirt Sepp,” his wife, and their daughter, who now runs the business, always bring a laugh. We had a GREAT TIME.

We stayed in the 140m house, and it was the best accommodation I’ve had on a ski trip. The huge living room, comfortable bedrooms, well-equipped kitchen, and great view made it feel like the chalet you’d dream of. It’s ideal for a big family or a group of friends. A couple of practical things: there’s no shop in the village, so bring plenty of food. You’ll also need to bring toilet paper, soap, and dishwasher tablets.
