Do Step Inn

There’s no lift, and the mixed dorms are three floors up. The women’s dorm is on the ground floor, so men and anyone in a mixed dorm have to haul luggage upstairs every day. There isn’t a charging socket by the bed either, though each bed has a lamp. Breakfast costs 11 euros for bread, and it’s not worth it. The place is far from the city center but still expensive. The heating didn’t work, and with nighttime temperatures at 0 degrees, people were freezing. The hostel claimed there was only one person left in the dorm, but the same two people were there for the whole stay. Security feels almost nonexistent, with cameras only at reception and none in the hallways or on the floors, yet they charge as if it’s a luxury place. Cold rooms, misleading information, poor comfort, and overpriced bread. I really wish I hadn’t stayed at Do Step Inn.

When I stayed here in early August, a homeless man in my dorm asked me and the other woman there some very uncomfortable questions. She’d already reported it at reception, but they ignored her because he was supposed to have checked out. He was still there when I returned to the room. I went back to reception, and it took them a while to act. Eventually, he was extorted out of the hostel. It’s a shame they took so long. The rooms were okay, but very small, and there were no privacy curtains. I was very disappointed with my stay.

We needed a room right away because of an emergency, and the man at the counter was wonderful. He was polite, considerate, and helped us out. The room was clean, with no bedbugs or stains in sight. It was a great experience overall, and I’d recommend it.

The staff were kind and helpful, and the place is very close to the bus station and airport shuttle. I took off one star because the bed wasn’t very comfortable, and the showerhead didn’t have a proper holder.
